In the foyer revel, you might have noticed the new dresser in place of the console table. I had the table for years, and where it worked in our last house, it was a bit long for this house given the way the double doors open. I knew I didn’t love the table anymore, but didn’t know what I wanted. Also, we were using a computer cabinet that we had in our previous house (from back when computers where actually huge and not laptops) in the den as our media center; however, it was too deep for the new house. (The den is a very dark room so it is hard to get good pictures.)
So I had been in search of a narrow dresser that I could use as our media center that would allow me to get another chair on the short wall. That is when I found this one on Craigslist (picture from the Craigslist add):
It was the perfect dimensions, and I loved her feet. The only problem was, she was not being sold alone – her brother had to come with her.
The price for both was still way less than anything else I had found for the media center so I took them both not knowing what I was going to be doing with brother.
We moved sister in her permanent spot,
and we put brother in the foyer (because that is where all things that don’t have a home go in my home ). So he sat next to our console table for weeks. One day my sister, MK, was over and she said, wow – he looks good here – why don’t you use him instead of the table. And I realized that he was perfect. (Sometimes I need to be knocked over the head to see the perfect solution.)
So once the board and batten project was completed, I got to work on brother. (Yes, sister was the reason for the purchase, and she still sits unpainted – that is just how I work!)
I applied two coats of ASCP in Graphite, distressed it, and then applied a coat of clear wax, and then a coat of dark wax. I also applied two coats of ASCP in Graphite and a coat of clear wax and a coat of dark wax to the original hardware.
