Last month I went with my sister, Happy, and her husband to move my oldest niece into her dorm room at Mississippi State. There was a lot of stuff…
Although, a good part of it was because of me. My sweet niece let me take over the decorating, and boy did I have fun. But they would say I kinda got carried away, especially when it came to the pillows.
We started with the duvet cover and sham that came from PB Teen. We knew her bed would be raised high, so we went with a full size duvet so that it would cover more of the sides of her bed. (The throw at the end of the bed, the large turquoise pillow and the turquoise pillow with white ribbon also came from PB Teen, and we took them to a local monogram shop.) Then I found coordinating fabric to make her headboard, bed skirt, and more pillows.
I found a plant stand that was the height we needed, and painted it (and of course added a monogram) to become her night stand. I also added a monogram to her lamp shade.
I used the same fabric as her headboard and bed skirt to make a pin board for the back of her desk.
I made a valance using the same fabric from one of the pillows.
I also had fun with their door – in that both my niece and her roommate are from out of state, I made signs representing each of their home states (there is a bright light right outside their door, so it was hard to get a good picture).
Here is the before:
And the after:
I will have future posts to show you how I made her headboard, pin board and bed skirt.
