I’m Rebecca and want to welcome you to Southern Crate & Co. I am a true southern girl – growing up in Mississippi and now residing in South Carolina with my husband (who, when I told I was starting a blog told me I could not use his name, but could only refer to him as “The Husband”) and our two little girls (of the 4 legged variety – Lily, a 12-year-old Chihuahua and Maggie, a 4-year-old Silky Terrier). I have a day job, but I need a creative outlet, and I have found that to be my home – from the actual house to everything in it. I paint furniture, occasionally build furniture (with help from The Husband), paint and decorate rooms in our home (and then re-paint and re-decorate them), sew and make jewelry. I have a need to have a project (or two, or three) going on at all times. I get very excited when I come up with what the next project will be, that I am known to leave the current project at about 98% complete to move on to the next (I eventually go back and finish the first!) The Husband doesn’t get near as excited as I do (to be exact, he gets 0% excited), so I have learned when I need help, when to persuade him and when to bring in hired help. Here I will share my projects, before and afters, helpful tips, how tos and the products I use. I am by no means an expert in any of the things I do, but I hope the things I have learned along the way might help you. I have been DIYing for many years and have debated starting a blog for the last couple of years and finally decided it was time. I don’t know much about blogging so it will be a learning process as I go, and I hope you will hang around and enjoy the ride with me.
This is my favorite picture of the Girls (at our old house they would sit at the front door and watch the world go by for hours):
